Senator Peter Micciche (R-K-Pen) is hosting the meeting: “Crime is the number one thing we’re called about at the legislative offices. We are bringing down the experts so you can ask questions and hear from there about trends on the Kenai Peninsula, and how criminal law needs to change in Alaska.” The panel includes; representatives from the Department of Public Safety, Alaska State Troopers, Department of Law, Kenai and Soldotna Police, and the Department of Corrections. The meeting will be held this evening, at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Topics of discussion will include criminal justice laws (past present and what the state needs in the future), trends seen around the Kenai Peninsula, and statewide and efforts to curb the opioid epidemic.
